CTIF Commission Extrication & New Technology

After a successful ISO kick-off meeting in Brussels on the 3th-4th of February 2015, attended by more than 40 participants from vehicle manufacturers and Fire & Rescue Services, the CTIF Commission for Extrication & New Technology left his footprint on the 5th of May in Paris. The chairman Tom Van Esbroeck managed to lead the face-to-face ISO meeting  ‘Working group 7 + Taskforce rescue information’ into the right direction.

What is it all about?

The CTIF Commission wants to force a breakthrough in the standardizing of first responders  information, provided by the industry and car manufacturers.  The same structure in Rescue Sheets and Emergency Response Guides, will improve the work of first responders all over the world, optimizing safety for everyone aboard!

Work is progressing in a constructive way. By signing our support letter, every CTIF member can now give a powerful signal of trust and believe in the Commission’s ISO efforts!

Recommendations for vehicles with standard and alternative fuels/ engines

Because of new technologies and energy sources, the industry is increasingly focusing on alternative drives and fuels. These recommendations are focused on flammable gases, liquids, combustion engines with electric motors and many other combinations more.

The document was prepared together by the Hazardous materials commission and the commission on Extrication & new technology.

Extrication and New Energy Commission VIENNA MEETING

Date:
Mercredi, 28. Mai 2014 (All day) to Jeudi, 29. Mai 2014 (All day)
Location:
Vienna, Austria

The CTIF Commission for "Extrication and New Technology" is trying to encourage and promote the cooperation between fire services and other emergency services around the world, representing 36 different countries via CTIF.

In the next few years, the commission wants to focus primarily on the development and exchange of “best practices” regarding extrication techniques for vehicles on alternative energy (Hydrogen, Electric, CNG, LNG, Li ION batteries, Super Capacitors etc)..

Besides exchanging experience, the commission also wants to draw up standard operational procedures regarding extrication of busses, trains and airplanes.

The commission will work within the ‘ISO’ (International Organization for Standardization) to be able to internationally harmonize information and training for the rescue services in the field.

If we can share our experiences on the international level, this will help us all one step further to guarantee the security of our citizens and emergency workers. The more we can learn from each other, the better.
